Congrats, you have now officially taken your first step towards
a healthy future. You may not be a picture of health (yet!)
but you have to believe that it’s never too late to
start what could be one of the most important changes in your
life.
It sounds to me all you need is some motivation and confidence.
Try not to change your current lifestyle all at once. Take
babysteps with small goals. As you reach these smaller goals
you will gain more confidence in yourself to attain the larger
ones. If you put your mind to something and believe in yourself
anything is attainable, even loosing sixty pounds. Confidence
and motivation go hand in hand yet is different for everyone.
What keeps me going may not be the same for you. Here are
some tips that may help out.
1) Choose your goals (short and long term), write them down
and say them aloud. This makes them real and not just a thought
left to collect dust. Look at them and read them daily. Take
action.
2) Get a training partner. Surround yourself with others
that are health orientated. Talk to professionals in the health
industry, their positive energy will rub off on you.
3) Read, read, and read! Knowledge is power.
4) Have never ending commitment. Stick to your program and
new ideals, and never give up. This is a lifestyle change;
it took time to put on the weight it will take time to take
it off. There are no miracles just huge paybacks.
5) Stay off the scale. By hopping on the scale you might
as well throw your motivation and confidence right out the
window.
6) Try a cleanse. By releasing the toxins (pesticides, acid,
processed food etc.) from your body it will help give you
a fresh start. Consult a health professional.
7) Only take part in activities you enjoy yet try everything
once.
8) Visualize. Picture yourself healthy in all areas of your
life and get excited about who you are now and of what you
are going to be, you, but a healthier you.
9) Have determination. Do whatever it takes as long as it
is healthy. "Determination is the wake-up call to the
human will"- Anthony Robins.
10) Think before you take action, as a matter of fact think
twice. Your short-term pleasure may be your long-term pain.
The reasons you may eat fatty foods or not exercise are probably
for short-term pleasure yet they only give long-term pain
both physically and mentally.
These are only a few tips but I will tell you what keeps
me motivated.
Life is full of unknowns. Anything can happen at anytime good
or bad. Situations arise that are uncontrollable. One thing
I can take full control and responsibility for is my physical,
spiritual and emotional well being. Like motivation and confidence
the too go hand in hand. I know I am worthy of health and
nothing or no one can take that away from me unlike a job,
money, spouse, or material belongings etc. By staying healthy
I can spend more quality time with my family and friends and
enjoy everything I work hard for. I want to be disease and
cancer free. I love the way I feel during and after exercise.
I love the physical changes as well! Emotionally I am on top
of the world. I know I could not feel this way if health was
not a part of my life. Life is my motivation.
